Warming Centers and Shelters

  • Community organizations that serve individuals experiencing homelessness stand ready with warming supplies to provide hats, coats, hand warmers, hot meals and daytime shelter. This includes Communities Under The Bridge, Corazon Ministries,  Christian Assistance Ministry, Kingdom Restoration Lab, Catholic Worker House, Haven For Hope, and the City of San Antonio.
  • Places of worship within the downtown district and across the community contribute volunteers and resources, actively establishing temporary nighttime shelters.
  • Numerous nonprofit organizations in San Antonio are working together to coordinate transporting the unhoused, handing out warming items to people, and giving aid. This includes distributing bus tickets, providing guidance on impending cold weather, and informing our unhoused neighbors of the available resources. For those unwilling to go to shelter, warming items such as hot water for Ramen, coffee, and protective items such as blankets, coats, socks, hats, and gloves will be distributed.

Safety Measures for Walking and Driving On Snow And Ice

During the winter weather advisories, it’s safest to stay home and avoid going out. If you have to walk somewhere, especially when it comes to stairs, steps, or getting on/off of curbs, please be cognizant of ice. It may seem clear, but you could very easily turn a normal step into a dangerous fall. If driving is necessary, maintain a steady speed, tap the brake pedal gently, and avoid sudden movements. Increase the distance between vehicles to allow time for reactions.

Stay informed with up-to-date information on social media channels from CoSA, Bexar County, and the National Weather Service San Antonio Alerts.

If you can help your San Antonio neighbors in the most need, thank you.
